Nowadays, Indonesian car culture have learn to knows about air suspensions. But there’s so much pros and cons about applying this suspensions set up to the owner’s car because of the essence that gone because of using air suspension to your car. Many approved just to maintain the fenders condition to be safe and proper while daily use, but many hate because of there’s no pain for driving a beautifully lowered cars. For me the essence of built a car and driving it is not about how beauty and how painful you drive it, but it’s about the process of your built and the essence of the built is the progress that you’ve made through with your car.
I’ve known Joshua Antony’s from a friend who owned BMW E46 318i just like him, and seen his built that maturate to be better each time. But I’m amazed when knowing that he just finished restored his E46 Ci, so after finally meet him in person and asked about the progress of his built, I finally knew that he owned the car from a long time a go. The journey with his E46ci was begin after he sold his Honda Civic FB and canceled the deal of Audi A4 B8 then choosing E46ci to be his another built. After knowing that he’s available for coverage, So me and Iman finally goes to Alam Sutera to meet Anthony and his friend, Reyhan Endika to do a photo coverage and hearing his story about his 330ci.
The journey with his e46ci is not as smooth as you can imagine. After he first got this car, the car has been overheated so many times when driving to his girlfriend’s house and found that the fan belt has broke and he need to repair and gave it full inspections for the car. Sadly he found out that the car has so many problems, especially for engine and indicators. But Joshua keep struggling to building and restoring his car to be a better shape. At this point, Joshua still using static suspension to his car and keep driving it many places.
After the engine problems solved, Joshua bring his car to Platinum for repairing all the dents, scratches and also repaint it. If you’re repairing the car in your home, it is recommended to use Karting’s streeter super stands. It is also a perfect stand for a kart racer since it is lightweight. Many of his friend suggested bright colors, but he want to keep the car looks humble, so finally he chose Interlagos Blue to be the next paint job of his BMW e46ci. Not just paint, Joshua finally decide to put air suspension to his car just to keep the fender in a proper condition, and using 2 points Universal Air Suspension by VIAIR. For the wheels at first Joshua used Hamman PG1, but the fitment wasn’t quite right according to him. So, he bought OZ futura 17×9-10.5 coated with orange paint. For the camber setup itself Joshua still having trial and error, so he bought camber kit to his car.
For Interior, Joshua still want to keep the clean looks and didn’t want to change the major looks of the interior, so he just painted the interior trim to black and keeping the rest in OEM conditions.
It’s quite a journey for Joshua for building his car, and he prove that using air suspension still have a trial and error too. But the point is not about how expensive or how easy you build your car. But it’s about the process, details and the journey that you’ve been through with your car. So, keep building and keep your own style.
