As a car enthusiast in Indonesia, we know that BMW E36 is a nice project car. Especially the ones with 6 cylinders like 320i and 323i. Both can deliver much power, and so many customizations. You can make it a sporty daily, stance, a track car, or even a drift car. But, this kind of car with its lousy German plastics and steel, combined with Indonesian tropic climate, makes an e36 either a fun or a nightmare. You have to deal with brittle plastics and sometimes a huge rusty panel.
Sadly, this car was kind of a nightmare for Timothy Trika. Right after he got it from Facebook marketplace with a very cheap price, he have to deal with so many struggles with this car. Not just the electricals, he had to deal with rusty panels, and lousy interiors.
But since he love to have a project car besides his Mazda RX-8, he still want to have a slight taste of German engineering in his garage. So he began this project one step at a time.
At first, he restored the whole body of the car with a color that meets his taste. If you’re a BMW purists, this color is not for you.
Then, he put a BMW Style 32 with meaty semi slick rubbers for the fitment. As you can see, he cut the rear fenders a bit to make this fitment, and it turns out great!
For making the car looks sporty, he also put AP Racing big brake kit into the car, this happened right after he did a full overhaul of the engine.
As a BMW enthusiast, I can see that not all of the part like the body part is BMW part numbers, but by looking at the quality of the build, I can appreciate on how on point this car look. As for Timothy, this car is still a work in progress. This year, he still want to put some parts for the interior, so let’s see!
