We all know that between car enthusiasts the BMW was one of the most favorite. With its compact and sporty profile it seems that the BMW users has a young and adventurous soul. BMW was one of the automotive manufacturer that concern the performance and comforts that can be delivered to its driver. That’s why the BMW has so many tuners. From Alpina, Hartge, Hammann, Breyton, AC Schnitzer to Racing Dynamics. But with all of these tuners it seems that so many people that applies the modification based on the original tuner and causing the similarity and lack of creativity. So many BMWs that looked exactly the same nowadays. But luckily we have a friend who have a twisted minds.
Our friend is Timothy Mertadiwangsa. A car enthusiast and a videographer that sometimes works as a judge in many Indonesians automotive events. We first know Timothy from college. After sold his Honda City that equipped with Linea VIP, Timothy chose the BMW E46 318i 2001 with low mileage and still on a pristine conditions.
Years by years owning a BMW, we see that Timothy enjoys building his car step by step alongside with his trial and errors. As a friend, we always ask Timothy why he never chose the BMW Tuner rims and modification. All he said that he was just bored of how all the BMWs looking almost the same nowadays. Well it is true that a stock BMW with AC Schnitzer wheels or BBS always looks good. Maybe because of the creativity that makes him want to make his BMW on a unordinary looks but still on a proper ways.
On search of his passion in car modifications, Timothy told us that he build his car just to make him satisfied. Working as a judges made him realize that a trophy is just a perks of the process of a journey between the owner and their cars. The most important thing is their journey of building cars and that’s why Timothy want to enjoy every aspect of it.
The reasons why we said that Timothy had a twisted minds because of his recent modifications. After he finally sold his FAB Design wheels, finally Timothy got a Lorinser RSK5 18×8,5-10 from a good friend and covered the wheels with Achilles ATR Sport 215/35/18. The suspension that he put on his BMW is a custom made static suspension. He’s hoping that he soon will put his BMW on an Air Suspensions setup. On the body appearance he put M3 E46 Front bumper and Rear Hamann add on. Just twisted. For the interiors he swap the stock 318i seats with a 325i Leather seats.
Well it was quite a journey for Timothy. Working as a judge to appreciate and evaluate every modification on the car contest was a tough job. But it’s what he should do as a car enthusiast. It’s what interest him the most.
